By The Way

1. I am barefoot 99 percent of the time.
2. I am an amateur photographer, painter and guitar player. Emphasis on the word “amateur”.
3. I like calligraphy, glitter pens, crayons and coloured paper. My daughter and I spend many hours honing our creative talents.
4. I am new to the world of scrapbooking, but it rocks!
5. I never dance in public.
6. I am obsessed with bath products. Cleopatra reportedly bathed in milk, but I reckon that’s pushing the envelope. Give me salts! Give me oils! Give me bubbles!
7. I’ve been a waitress, a remedial teacher, a library administrator, a sales assistant and a proofreader. I wanted to study architecture, but ended up in media. It’s a long story.
8. I draw doodles on serviettes and sales receipts. It’s a compulsive thing.
9. I know my way around the kitchen. Gourmet? No. Hearty, homemade nosh? Yes!
10. I have visited many places in South Africa, but I’ve only been overseas once, to various parts of California in the USA. I can’t wait to see the rest of the world, but the Travel Fund is not growing fast enough. One day…
11. My husband has my name tattooed on his forearm.
12. My CD rack is running out of space. My DVD rack is running out of space. My books are already lying all over the place.
13. The wonders of chocolate cake never cease to amaze me.
14. There is no excuse for poor spelling. Dust off the dictionary, run the spellcheck program or phone a friend.
15. Camels spit. And they take a really long time to pee. And when you’re riding one, you’re a lot higher off the ground than you think.
16. You never really know how to curse until you’ve worked in a newsroom. Most of the journalists I know swear like troopers. It’s the most eloquent profanity you’ll ever hear.
17. Perspective is everything.
18. Good manners mean a lot to me.
19. A little kindness goes a long way.
20. Cats are clever.
